This was quite an interesting book. There's been a lot of fuss about this one and I've seen it everywhere, so I had quite high expectations. I wasn't disappointed!
I very much enjoy the vibrant setting of 1860's Amsterdam. I felt like I could really picture the places and the society.
The characters were fascinating, though I must admit I enjoyed the main character of Nella the least. I can't really pinpoint why. I did love all the other characters though, as I felt they were well-rounded and quite realistic.
The mystery of the miniaturist is quite unsettling, and it brings an eerie feeling to the entire story, like a great, dark cloud above it all.
I would definitely recommend this if you enjoy historical fiction.
